We design, build and hand over processing plants that turn aluminium dross residue and spent pot lining into saleable materials. We take responsibility for the waste from the smelter floor to the final product, with zero landfill as the design target.

Two waste streams, one discipline
We work with both sides of the aluminium industry
Primary and secondary smelters produce different residues, but they share the same problem: a hazardous material that costs money to store, transport and landfill, and that stays the generator's liability for decades.
Primary smelters
Spent pot lining (SPL)
The carbon cathode and refractory lining removed from reduction cells at the end of their life. SPL carries leachable fluorides and cyanides and is classified hazardous in most jurisdictions.
MaterialFirst-cut carbon and second-cut refractory SPL, including legacy stockpiles
RiskFluoride and cyanide leaching, flammable gas on contact with water
OutcomeTreated, inert material and product streams for cement, steel and agriculture
What remains after metal is recovered from dross and scrap melting. The residue holds salts, aluminium nitride and fluorides that react with moisture and leach into soil and groundwater.
MaterialSalt cake and non-metallic dross residue from rotary and reverberatory furnaces
RiskAmmonia release, chloride and fluoride leaching, rising landfill costs
OutcomeAmmonium sulphate, pozzolans, calcium aluminates and recycled salt flux
Tell us about your smelter and the residue it produces. We will come back to arrange an initial consultation, usually under a mutual NDA so technical data can be shared freely.
